LUX ELEVEN. Located in the vibrant area of Mitte, the heart of Berlin, lies the Design Hotel Lux Eleven, surrounded by various shops, art galleries, design studios, concept stores, as well as a number of trendy bars, cafes and restaurants. Popular tourist attractions are only a step away. Hackesche Höfe, Alexanderplatz with its television tower, Gendaremenmarkt, Prenzlauerberg and Musesumsinsel can easily be reached with the excellent public transport facilities.
The Lux Eleven was built in the 19th century and later became a military hospital during World War I. It survived World War II and from 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the neighborhood became more and more trendy. It provided the finest art, underground clubs and galleries. Lux Eleven as a Design Hotel as such, opened in 2005, with completely refurbished three building. It quickly became the most popular Design Hotel for all sorts of creatives, even housing celebrities.
Today: It provides the most excellent service while guaranteeing every guest’s privacy. It offers 72 spacious open-plan rooms and suites, ranging from Value rooms to Premier suites, Superior suites and Executive suites. The suites range in sizes and include a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom and living space. The 160m² penthouse is the Hotels special feature and can also be used as an exclusive meeting room. The Lux certainly is a home away from home and makes residing at the Lux Eleven a true delight. The living space includes a TV and provides a doc station for iPhone addicts like me. :D With the available wifi during my whole stay, I was also able to blog. Another plus was the 24 hour reception and room service that provided excellent service at all times.
I was first booked into the Executive Suite but upon arriving I was surprised to hear that I was upgraded to the Premier Suite #win I loved my room or should I say little apartment rather? Certainly, one of the best Hotels I have stayed it so far.
‘Do disturb’ instead of ‘do not disturb’, is the Hotel’s ethos regarding privacy. I was never woken up early by the staff or similar, unless I put the ‘do disturb’ sign outside my door. Indeed, the Lux Eleven really made me feel home, while letting me have my own space.
Being a Design Hotel and the most popular of its kind, the Lux leaves nothing to be desired in terms of furnishing and comfortable ambience. Its clean and minimalistic decor which can be found in all suites is the Hotels specialty of style. The Hotel further works with the beautiful Prince restaurant, and houses a Pop Up Store, thefashion store Ulf Haines and an Aveda HairSpa for the ultimate relaxation experience.
The Lux Eleven, named after its location on Rosa-Luxemburg Str., certainly is a jewel of a Hotel, welcoming global travellers and providing an experience that is far off from the usual Hotel stay. A definite must when you are in Berlin next time.
Bisous,
