Grey Matters | Berlin

Hello loves and happy Monday! I've been up early and am already sitting in the office to get some work done. Today's look is a comfy winter look I wore yesterday when Chris and I strolled through our possible new neighborhood, Schöneberg.
I recently got this amazing knit from Vila. Apart from the color (I simply love wearing grey tones at this time of the year) I absolutely adore the soft fabric. IT's none like my other knits, it's super cozy and comfortable to wear therefore perfect for chilly days. I paired it with simple skinny jeans and also added edgy leather boots for an even more laid back look. I'm also ver much in love with my new bag I got from Mango the other day. It reminds me so much the Chloe Hudson - but this one doesn't cost a fortune! In fact it's quite cheap and currently still available. Do you like it? Today will be a rather quiet day and one eI leave the office I'll do my best to prepare the next posts for this week, before meeting up with Chris for dinner. What are your plans for today? Have a lovely day!

I was wearing:

Vintage Camel Coat (similar here or here)
Pull&Bear Skinny Jeans (similar here)
Toyshop Boots (similar here or here)

Shop the look

Colorful Sunday's - My Desigual

Hi loves! I'm back on the blog with a colorful look that I wore last Sunday while we were strolling through Berlin. We spent most of our time at the Mauerpark flea markte in Berlin Mitte where all eyes were on me while walking down the street in tis colorful coat.
It's from Desigual, a label well known for playing with colors and prints. I instantly fell in love with it browsing their store last week. Apart from the cool cut and the light fabric, I mostly adore the vibrant colors and crazy prints. It can dress up any outfit but can also be mixed with other prints. I paired it to a rather plain outfit wearing a jeans shirt an black jeans plus adding some black accessories. How do you like it? Would you dare wearing this beauty of a coat?

I was wearing:

Pull&Bear Jeans
ASOS Sneaker
Everlane Leather Bag
Vintage Sunnies

Sunday post: Never give up on something you really want!

Sunday thoughts. Whether it's a job, a new apartment, a trip you been planing to do for a while or the encounter with a human being so dear to you, whatever it is the #quoteoftheday you can find on my Instagram today (@minnieknows) kind of puts everything into perspective. At least for me. I have been reading Masha's Sonntags Posts for a while now and have been feeling so inspired. The Sunday posts are always the best I must say. I know, all of us love fashion, and reading about designers and new pieces someone has in their wardrobe so we all can unite in buying the one particular piece of clothing. I'm not judging anyone - else I would be judging myself. But for me personally and what I want Minnie Knows to be revolving about, I say enough with the superficiality! It's time to introduce the weekly Sunday post or should I say thought?

Since I've been super stressed about my upcoming trip to New York where I'm planning to stay for two months, I started reading and rea-reading my babe's Alice impressions of her 6 months stay in the City when she interned at Alexander Wang. What?! Amazing right? Long story short. I still haven't found a room to rent and although I'm impressed with Alice for organising her accommodation once she got there, I'm too much of a control freak and scaredy cat to hope for the best once I'm there! Thanks to Alice who also was so kind to email me some advice on where to stay and what's a good and safe neighbourhood, I'm also living on craigslist these days. Literally.

So when I read todays quote I instantly associated the message with my current situation! I know I know, it's only an internship and it's only for 2 months. But still, it's a country I've never been to, a place so far away from home and all my loved ones and just so so big! Although I'm from London I still feel like New York will be on another level! Nonetheless, I'm so very excited to finally be there and hope I can sort our everything prior to my departure in a few weeks!

Whatever happens in the next few weeks, I won't give up on this dream of being in New York, living and working because I really really want this! Although it's difficult to wait, to plan and make sure everything goes right (even though you can't control everything right), it sure is more difficult to regret!

So whatever you want, whatever you really really want, don't give up! Travel, experience, take risks, adventure, have fun and above all LIVE!

Happy Sunday

Sunday Thoughts

Sunday. Instead of the usual Flower Market venture on a Sunday afternoon with following post, I am writing something different today. For one it's due to me still being sick and spending most of my time in bed, so no Flower Market for me this weekend. However, I have had time to read as I told you earlier which I have really missed. And with read I mean something other than Uni textbooks and books on how to best prepare for Exams. I have of course, also had time to read my favorite blogs. My current favorite read: Daria Daria by talented Madeleine Alizadeh.

Long story short, being in bed all day, taking in knowledge from writers such a Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Dickens and Austen, listening to Beethoven and Chopin does result in a peak of inspirational input, hence poems and other creative pieces being written. I have never done this before, but since Minnie Knows is my own personal little world where I should be able to do anything, say anything and most importantly write anything I want to, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to share with one of my biggest passions besides fashion, namely writing! May it be poems, interior monologues or short stories, I find delight in expressing my thoughts and feelings through the most important channel of human kind - language.
I have always been a bit reluctant to share my work since I am never fully satisfied with my final product. It takes me hours, days and sometimes months to finish a piece and even then I am still not fully satisfied. Nevertheless, this one work I want to share with you guys! I have actually written this some time ago in Berlin and with my trip back to Berlin fast approaching, I thought it might be a good one to share with you first. I really hope you like it. And even if you don't, please do share your opinions, because that's how I can always work to be better and strive to produce my best and nothing less.
Here we go:

-A lifetime-

Departure time 9.15
I was waiting for the usual flight that would take me back to another home away from home.
These flights seemed to have become my everyday life.
More often than not was I up in the air, to and fro.
Spent more hours of my life up in the air, between lands, than I set foot in them.
Constantly.
Leaving countries and arriving in different time zones.
Ans yet here I was again.
Waiting.

However, this time proved to be different.
Sitting, waiting for flight number 10487, I glanced and old couple.
Sitting next to me.
Waiting.
Just like me, they were waiting.
Uncertain of where they were going, I was amazed by their comfort towards each other.
Day dreaming about my own future I let myself drift away.
Dreamed of a human being that would give me that same comfort one day.
So amazed by how these two souls dealt with each other.
Their speech. Their gestures. Their facial expression.
I spotted their golden rings.
Each one around the ring finger that implied a long life had been lived.
Together.
I asked them how long the had been together.
Like a matter of course, it bursts out of me.
With a shy smile they answered almost simultaneously, 65 years.

Yes, 65 years.

780 months.
3.120 weeks.
23.360 days.

65 years.
Triple my age, I thought.
More than half a decade.
Lived and spent with one person.
Woken up next to the same face.
Day after day.
Kissed, only one person.
Your whole life.
It had something do beautiful.
Poetic.
Personal and oh so honest.

Eager to know how it had worked out I was even more amazed to hear the answer:

'We grew up learning to fix what was broken, not throw it away just like that.'

He said.
She smiled.
Holding his hand tighter, I couldn't but admire these beautifully crafted human beings.

The words he had said entered my head, took hold of my mind and devoured my thoughts.
They looked for a place in my head where they could never be tossed out again.
Once they conquered this they made their way to my heart.
My inner most part of my body and made sure never to leave again.

65 years.
780 months.
3.120 weeks.
23.360 days.

Telling me their story, how they had met and what they had been through made them even more special.
I couldn't but associate their story with a beautiful song.
Their story sounded like one of those love stories that did only occur every now and then.
Tragic with an almost unbearable climax yet a happy ending.
Yes, it sounded like that once in a lifetime thing where one decision was made that changed one's life completely.
Proving to be the best decision someone could ever make, will have made, no matter what the future might hold.

Crafted in a time where the words 'love' and  being 'in love' were not being just tossed around.
They still meant something.
Everything.
Theses souls were  the living evidence.

65 years.
780 months.
3.120 weeks.
23.360 days.

A lifetime.
